May 6th, 2017 - Portland Meadows Race Track. The Kentucky Derby is one of those event's that seemingly transcends place and time. Joining people together around the country, in a fashion that is reminiscent of hot Sunday afternoons on the porch, mint-julep in hand.
In the time leading up to the race, fans gathered around tiny twelve-inch TV screens showing the race in part of it, with betting numbers scrolling down the side.
This was my first time watching the race, I felt that the Minolta Autocord was the appropriate camera for the event, plus it matched my outfit! Shot on Ilford film.
